Club Notes
September 14, 2015
Our very popular Nursery resumed on Saturday. It was absolutely brilliant to see the club packed with enthusiastic young boys and girls all anxious to partake in our games. We have room for many more. So please come along and join a wonderful community organisation. It’s one of the best decisions you will ever make. For further information, contact Paddy Gorey.
On Saturday the 26th, we are hosting the annual All Ireland Ladies football 7s. All pitches at the club will be in use from 8am until 6 30. If you have an away game please arrange to meet in Carrickhill. This is a hugely important event for the club and we ask for total cooperation from all mentors in all sections. The usual helpers will be required. Please contact Frank Lynch.
Work is currently underway on the All Weather slots for 2016. Mentors are asked to submit their preferences to their section Chairpersons. Mentors are also asked to be realistic and to realise that that the pitch committee is not made up of magicians and that all teams cannot train on the same hour on the same night. For the remainder of this Season, teams are asked to abide by the existing schedule. However, priority will be given to teams who are still involved in vital competitions.
Good luck to the “Dubs” on Sunday in the All Ireland final. If you don’t get a ticket, why not come along and watch it on our big screens in the club. All are welcome no matter who you are supporting and the “Craic” will be mighty. So, put on your county colours and join us for a wonderful afternoon. Finger food will be served.
Our senior footballers are back in action on Saturday evening with a crucial game at home at 6pm against St. Anne’s. The juniors are in action on Sunday morning. Please support the lads. Our senior hurlers gained a very valuable league point after a hard earned draw against Parnells. We have 2 home fixtures remaining in the league against Erin’s Isle and Whitehall and of course, we have the county final to look forward to. The juniors remain unbeaten in the league after defeating Na Gael Óga. They now finish their Season with 3 difficult away games. We had impressive wins also for the Minor footballers, under 15 and 16 footballers. The under 15 camogie girls made it 2 wins in the championship. The under 16s also won.
Tickets are now available for the National GAA draw which takes place on the 11th March 2016. Tickets purchased before 6pm on the 19th will be entered into a special club draw for 2 All Ireland tickets. Tickets cost €10 and are available from Tim Maher, Tony Owens or Eamonn in the bar.
Well done to all our young members on their very good results in the Junior Cert. You are all talented on and off the field.
A number of our members are recovering from illness at the moment. We wish them well and will remember them in our prayers.
