Club Notes

May 7, 2019

Congratulations to our boys Féile football team who reached the final only to lose out after extra time to Fingal Ravens. The weekend started with victories over Naomh Olaf and Beann Eadair. Our final group game was against Ballinteer which we lost by a point. We still topped our group and faced O’Toole’s in the semi-final. After a hard fought encounter, a goal in the last minute gave us a one point win. It was off to St.Peregrines on Sunday where our opponents were Fingal Ravens in the final. We were 2 points up with 4 minutes of normal time left and we started to dream. However, it was not to be. Our opponents leveled the game and run out deserving winners in extra time. Thank you to the entire squad for their efforts and the management team of Aidan, John, Brendan, Ciaran, Gearóid and Mick.

It was a good week for our adult hurlers. Our Intermediate lads were most impressive in their championship match against Parnells coming away with a comfortable victory. The junior team defeated Clontarf in the league and Erin Go Bragh in the championship.

Our minor footballers had a very impressive win over Naomh Olaf. This is a very impressive squad and thanks to them the future of football in the club looks bright.

We had 2 of our camogie players involved in Puc Fada competition recently. 17 year old Sophie Brennan has qualified for the Dublin final while Ciara Mullin was unlucky not to go through in the under 16 competition. Well done to both.

In ladies football, our adult team made the long trip to Thomas Davis and thanks to a late goal by Ciara McCabe came away with a victory. The under 14s recorded their 7th straight win and remain top of the league while a victory by the under 16s keeps them in 3rd place in the league. We are still looking for new players for our adult team. Please contact Cliodhna O’Connor.

Thank you to John Fahy, Graham and Kate Neville for  orgnaising the very successful Hog Roast fundraiser for our Govan Jolliffe Byrne Tournament. The tournament takes place on the 1st of June and if you would like to help out or sponsor some aspect of the event, please contact Kate Neville.

We have a number of vital home fixtures this week. Tonight (Tuesday) our junior footballers play Ballinteer in the league at 7-30. Tomorrow night (Wednesday) our seniors play Naomh Fionbarra in the league at 7-15 while our adult ladies are also at home against Ballymun in the championship.

Congratulations to Niamh Fallon and Richard Petri who got engaged recently. Niamh played ladies football with the club and won an under 14 All Ireland medal with Dublin in 2007.
