Club Notes

May 26, 2020

Well done everybody, we are winning the battle against this unseen but dangerous enemy. However, we are not there yet and we ask all members to continue to adhere rigidly to the professional advice.

The club grounds remain closed except for maintenance activity. In preparation for the resumption of games Stop Nets have been erected on Pitches 6 and 8 and the grass has been maintained in pristine condition. Make no mistake about it our teams will be back stronger than ever.

Our Club Volunteer Scheme will continue to operate for as long as is necessary. Should any member of the community require shopping or medicines collected or any other errands completed, you can contact our confidential text line 087 3439597. Don’t be hesitant we are here to help.

Next Saturday night in conjunction with other sports clubs in Portmarnock, our club will be participating in an online fundraiser in an effort to raise funds for a number of local charities. The hope is that people who can afford to might donate a little of the money that they would normally spend socialising. All the charities are very worthy causes and full details will be available later in the week.

Our annual Govan Jolliffe Byrne tournament was due to take place this weekend. For obvious reasons, it’s not going to happen. However, we will be back and in the meantime let us remember Govan.

The first draw of our 2020/21 Club Lotto Season will take place on Sunday the 31st May. We ask all members to support this vital fundraiser.

We extend our sympathy to the McDowell family on the death of Phyllis which took place a little while ago. The McDowell family have always been very supportive of the efforts of our club. May Phyllis’ Soul Rest in Peace.
