Club Notes

July 11, 2016

Congratulations to Cian Hendricken and his under 21 hurling colleagues on winning the Leinster title. Cian who is just out of minor put on a fine display and they now face Galway in the All Ireland semi final in August. The team is managed by club members Joe Fortune and Dwayne Moore along with  Eimear Duignan.

Under 16 dual star Ciara Holland had a hectic weekend. On Saturday, she helped her Dublin football colleagues defeat Armagh to reach the All Ireland final. Then on Sunday she was on home turf when she scored some majestic points for the Dublin camogie team in their victory over Clare. She is joined in the camogie squad by Claire McGowan.

Caitriona, Laura and Miriam continue to shine for the Dublin senior camogie team and they had a good result on Saturday when they drew with Tipperary.

Well done to all our inter county representatives.

Our senior footballers continued their good run with a hard earned win over Parnells in a tough encounter. With 4 league games remaining, we remain well in contention for a play off place. The junior footballers had a good week recording 2 vital league wins. This team is managed by Joe McGowan and Ciaran O’Callaghan.

Congratulations to Kathleen Colreavy and the Dublin ladies football team on retaining the Leinster title and good luck to the men on Sunday against Westmeath. Tickets ordered for this game can be collected from Dan Linehan on Thursday night in the club.

Hurling takes centre stage this week. Our seniors are away to Crokes in the championship on Wednesday night and at home to Castleknock in a vital league game on Saturday evening. The juniors have 2 away games. They play Setanta on Thursday night in the championship and Plunketts on Sunday morning at 11 in the league. Please support all our teams.

Thank to to all who helped run the camogie Blitz on Saturday. It was a great success. We had 4 players in action, Grainne Skelton and Sophie Brennan at under 14 and Ruth Lenihan and Ailbhe Crean-Lynch at under 13. They all did us proud.

Once again we would like to remind all mentors and helpers that pitches must be stripped, goals, nets and flags must be put away neatly and all dressing rooms locked after all games. Please do not leave those heavy concrete goal anchors out in the middle of pitches. They are dangerous. When not in use the All Weather facility musty be kept locked. Remember that it is your club so please, act responsibly. Thank you.

As most of you are aware, we show all major sporting events on our Big Screens and you are all welcome to come along to our very pleasant surroundings. Tea, Coffee and finger food is available. Anyone member holding a party or celebrating any event should contact Bar Manager Eamonn Cosgrove.  Eamonn can help you plan any celebration and a great occasion is guaranteed.

The issue of security is always to the fore and we would like to remind anyone using our facilities at any stage to ensure that cars are always locked and that no property is visible.
