Dublin Airport Community Celebrations – 16th-17th September
Posted September 21, 2016
The weekend kicked off on Friday with a Barn Dance spectacular. The marquee was fitted with bales of hay, dance floor, fairy lights, and LED night lights on the gingham table cloths. The BBQ was mighty, with several types of meat, salads, pastas, rice and potatoes to bolster enough energy for a wild night of dancing. Then the lads and lassies strutted their stuff to the thrilling music of the Whole Hog Band, in cowboy hats, check shirts, chaps and boots.
On Saturday we hosted the Dublin Airport Community Family Day. The grounds looked fabulous, a sea of colour with fluttering banners and bunting, A Gig Rig, a Dunk Tank, a 90ft Marquee, horses from the Garda Mounted Unit and a silver tepee for the Fortune Teller. The air was filled with the aroma of cooking: burgers, hotdogs and Thai food. There was magic and fire eating, screams at the dunk tank, endless queues for the fortune teller and face painter, first aid ambulance, chess tournament, rounders demonstration, Irish dancers, games / skills competitions, and a Comhaltas instrument display. Local musicians and singers entertained the crowd.
Great to see the whole community coming together to join in the festivities.
Grateful thanks to Dublin Airport for their support.
