Feb 28th Under 11,12 & 13 Match Report

Under 11’s

Great performance with both U11 FB teams winning v Thomas Davis. Alex Shepard, Jamie Ramage, Daniel  Gorey, Luke Prunty, Ross Fagan, Nathan Clarke shining for Dermot’s team while Shane Archer, Eduardo Ganaza, David Bowers, Harry Sprague and Cian Madden impressed for Dave’s team. It is great preparation for their upcoming game at half time in Croke Park on Mar 7th for the National League match Dublin v Tyrone.

Under 12’s

Two huge performances against St Pat’s Donabate and Raheny on Saturday.

Our First Team travelled to a watery St Anne’s park for a match that had it all with Raheny.  Sometimes the phrase “Get Stuck In” is over used on the sideline but both backrooms could not ask for more from this encounter.  Raheny won in the end by 5 points but Naomh Mearnog will be disappointed by not converting the vast majority of  scoring chances in the second half that could easily have turned the encounter their way.

The Second Team overturned a 5 point disadvantage late in the second half to draw with Donabate.  A controversial final foul could have given Portmarnock a free to win the game but the referee disagreed. The Naomh Mearnog mentors were especially happy with the “Never say Die” attitude of the team, with many of the team emerging as leaders for the future.

Under 13’s

The Under 13’s took on a well respected Ballinteer hurling team on Saturday.  The last few encounters with Ballinteer had seen Naomh Mearnog with a 50/50 track record.  Saturday however demonstrated the Naomh Mearnog’s Under 13 increasing maturity with an efficient and convincing win that bodes well for the coming months.
