Juvenile Camogie Round-up – 15th Sept
Posted September 14, 2014
Here is our weekly round-up of all the action from the juvenile camogie section. We had a very busy weekend!
Seniors coaching
Many thanks to the senior camogie girls all of whom took time out from their training for their Summer Cup final to take training sessions with the u9 and u11 girls on Saturday morning. Well done girls on your Summer Cup final success!
U12 Camogie
Well done to the girls who had a great win over Cuala on Tuesday evening last. The girls have also been selected to play in Croke Park on the 18th of October.
U11 Camogie Team
The U11 girls travelled to Fingallians on Thursday evening and played a 15-aside game under lights. Since this was a challenge game the girls were encouraged to pick the sliothar up as much as possible and strike from the hand, an opportunity they relished as usually told to move the ball fast on the ground. Level of skill shown was phenomenal. The final score was a win for the Mearnog girls by a goal.
On Sunday the U11 and U10 teams travelled to Croke Park to watch an exciting All Ireland final between Cork and Kilkenny. Great fun was had by all and the girls proved that not only are they skilled on the field but super ‘high pitched’ singers on the bus journey home.
Camogie Nursery
The camogie nursery started back on Saturday morning at 9.45 on the all-weather pitch. Over 50 enthusiastic girls aged between four and seven with equally enthusiastic parents arrived, best numbers ever. Under the watchful eye of Paddy Gorey the girls were split into groups of eight for a fun warm-up, couple of drills but really came to life in the mini matches, cheered on by proud parents. The senior camogie girls arrived in force to assist the transition year students, great to see these girls providing such support to the juvenile section.
