ADDING IMAGES

When adding images to a page or post, there will be slots for images in the edit screen, at the bottom of the right column.

For most pages, images should be 436 pixels by 316, unless stated on the image box. The site will crop / resize larger images to that size.

To add an image:

  1. click the Set Image link
  2. click Upload Files and follow the instructions.
  3. make sure the image is selected with a tick
  4. click Set Featured Image in the bottom right corner

ADDING AND EDITING PAGES

Most pages on the  site operate on a simple template – Pages in Club Information, About and Club Resources, apart from a few exceptions, work like the following.

  1. There is a title bar for the title, which corresponds to the orange title box at the top of the page
  2. There is a large area for the main text.  The first paragraph is automatically made into large text.
  3. The Introbox area fills the small box to the left of the main content
  4. The Featured Image provides a picture for the page.   Add an image as described in the ADDING IMAGES section.
  5. The Order field, under Attributes, determines where in the menus this page will appear.  Lower numbered pages appear at the start / top of menus.  Zero or negative numbers are allowed too.  Check other pages to know what number to enter here to get the page into the desired place in menus.
  6.  Click the blue Publish button to add this page to the site.  If updating a page, this blue button will be labelled Update.

EDITING THE HOME PAGE

The Home page has many areas that can be made to link to different pages on the site.

Edit the Home page at Pages > Home.

You’ll see fields to edit with illustrations of what part of the page is affected.


ADDING NEWS ITEMS

  1. Click Posts, Add New
  2. Enter a title for the news story
  3. Add the text for the story in the main content area
  4. Add an image for the story in the Featured Image area (as described in ADDING IMAGES).
  5. Add tags to the Tag box
  6. Click Publish

The Bar area on the main News page is controlled from Pages > The Bar


ADDING CLUB NOTES

  1. Click Club Notes, Add New
  2. Add the text for the story in the main content area
  3. Click Publish

The note will be titled with the date that the note was published.


ADDING AND EDITING TEAMS

The main page for Adult Games is controlled via Pages > Adult Games

The main page for Juvenile Games is controlled via Pages > Juvenile Games

The “Welfare links” that appear on individual team pages are controlled on Adult Games and Juvenile Games pages. There are 4 drop down menus to choose which Resources pages to link to.

On the Juvenile Games page, there are also dropdowns to select links for the three boxes at the bottom of the main Juvenile Games page.

Teams are subdivided into the various games.

To add a team, select the game and Add New; or to edit a team, click the game to which it belongs.

  1. Add a name for the team to the title bar.
  2. There is a large area for the main text.  On the team page, this will be automatically truncated with a Read More link.
  3. The Team Contacts area fills the Team Contacts box
  4. Add a link to where the fixtures for this class appear in the Link to Fixtures Page.
  5. Add an image for the team under Team Image.  The image should be 664 pixels by 316.
  6. Add an image for the team sponsor to Team Sponsor.
  7. The Order field, under Attributes, determines what order this team will appear in the menus. The best would be to add the age of the team to this box to make sure it appears in the correct place. For adult teams, add a larger number to teams that you want to appear lower in the list.
  8.  Click the blue Update button.

ADDING FEATURED FIXTURES

To add fixtures that will appear on the home page and fixtures page:

  1. Click Featured Fixtures (not Fixtures) from the main left hand navigation
  2. Click the “Add New” button at the top of the screen
  3. Click the little calendar button to choose a date, and enter a time on the right (in 24 hour format, or with am/pm – any way will be understood).
  4. Add the Home team, the Away team, and Venue
  5. If possible, please use Naomh Mearnóg when referencing the club and Páirc Mearnóg for home venue (where applicable)
  6. Under Section, choose the relevant section of the club your team is in
  7. Under Competition, click the relevant competition or add a new one if required.
  8. Click Publish

Please note:
- The fixture will expire on the site once its date/time has passed.
- On the Fixtures part of the site, we only show the next calendar month of fixtures but you can add a full set of your team’s fixtures if you wish in advance


ADDING SPONSORS

When adding a new sponsor, determine where in the list of sponsors this sponsor should appear. Check the Order field on the sponsors to which this new one should be adjacent.

Then click Sponsors, Add New..

  1. Add the sponsor’s name to the title bar
  2. Add the main text about the sponsor to the main content area
  3. Under Sponsor Details, add the Address, Phone, etc in the relevant fields.The “this is not a sponsor” checkbox is to identify pages in the sponsors section like “Become a Sponsor” which we want to appear in the left menu, and not in the lists of sponsors.The “Standard Sponsor” checkbox removes the individual page from this sponsor. Instead their details will be displayed on the main sponsors page when the logo is clicked.
  4. In the WP Geo Location box, drag the marker to the location of the sponsor
  5. Add the order number to the order field.
  6. Add the sponsor logo to the Sponsor Logo image field at the size specified.  It will be resized, cropped if added at a larger size. (The logos are added at twice the size they will appear so that they will be crisp on retina displays).
    There is a separate image field for an alternative logo to be displayed in the footer, if the normal logo does not work at the smaller size.
  7.  Add up to 4 images for the slideshow below the logo.
  8. Add tags for the Sponsor in the tag field.
  9. Publish/Update

THE BAR

The Bar page is edited at Pages > News & Events > The Bar

There are 5 fields that correspond to the boxes on the page.

To add Bar News, click Bar News > Add New and add text and an image like News.  If there is no image, a generic image of the bar will be used.
