It certainly was a case of “Girl Power ” in the club over the weekend. On Sunday afternoon, our under 14 ladies football defeated Na Fianna in the championship final in Mobhí Rd. This was a close tense game which we eventually won by 5 points. The team is managed by Ken Brogan ably assisted by Aiveen Wall, Damian Grouse and Michelle Byrne.
We couldn’t celebrate just yet though as it was time to head for Parnells where our minor camogie team too on Thomas Davis in the championship final. The girls got off to a slow start and trailed at half time. This group of girls are certainly not “quitters” and they put in a fantastic second half to win comfortably in the end. This team is managed by Colm Delaney along with Damian Forde, Greg Skelton and Joan O’Connor. Congratulations to all concerned. This was a wonderful achievement which came about as a result of a lot of hard work. Most of those girls play both ladies codes.
Thank you to Adrian Kavanagh, Dave Killeen and Conor Kavanagh for their efforts with the under 21 footballers who bowed out of the championship on Saturday afternoon.
Thank you to the organisers and all who supported our Rachel Allen cookery demonstration on Thursday night. It was a huge success.
Tickets for the National Club draw are now on sale. All monies collected by the club stays in the club. Please support.
A reminder that our married V singles games will take place on St. Stephens day with the hurling at `12.
