Club Notes

February 17, 2016

Games - Once again, it was a very busy weekend with all of our boys teams in action. All the hard work is paying off and we have huge numbers fielding at under 8, 9, 10 and 11. It is great to see so many new mentors with those teams also. The future looks very bright indeed. Our under 12s beat Whitehall, while our under 13s made it 2 wins in a row in their grading league against a strong Castleknock side. Our under 14s and 16s put in good performances. The under 15s made it 3 wins in a row and now sit proudly on top of their league.

Upcoming Games - The minor football league commences next week and we have a home game againstRaheny at 11. Our Adult hurlers and footballers are also in Cup action with both sides scheduled to play at home at 10.30.

Rounders - Anyone interested in joining our Rounders Group, please note that training takes place every Sunday between 3 and 4. Contact Michael Geoghegan for more details.

Gala Ball 12 March - On Saturday March 12th, The Club will host a special Gala Ball to celebrate its 40thAnniversary. Attendees will be treated to a drinks reception at 7.30 pm as the Club’s traditional musicians welcome guests on the night. Top chefs will prepare a delicious 4 course meal as the Shelbourne Hotel’s resident crooner Seán Boland takes to the stage. After dinner, Seán will be joined by a five piece band who will entertain you into the early hours. The Gala Ball will reel back 40 years and celebrate the Club’s achievements through pictures, special presentations and a night that won’t be forgotten. Tickets are available from Jim Carroll on 086 2447005 or from Eamon in the Club Bar. Tables of 10 can be purchased for €500 or allocated tickets are €50 each. Please note that the Gala Ball is a non-profit event and the price of tickets has been set to cover the cost of the 4 course dinner and entertainment.

2016 Membership - Members can now pay their 2016 membership using the Club’s online membership payment and registration system. To avail of this service, just click on the attached link below or on the “Membership“ link on the Club’s Website and choose your particular plan. Memberships can also be paid in the Club Bar by cash/cheque/card. Due to the high cost of running our Club, such as for example, property and liability insurance costs of €22,000 which we have to pay this week, we can no longer tolerate late payment of membership fees and the Club are implementing a strict “No Pay No Play”policy and players who have not paid their membership by 31 March will not be able to play for the Club until such time as they have made arrangements to pay their membership.

A GREAT BIG THANK YOU to all of our members who paid their 2016 membership. At this stage 47% of players have paid their 2016 membership with 87% of payments being made online.

Club Lotto – The Club Lotto Jackpot was not won at last Sunday night’s draw and the Jackpot for the next draw on Sunday 21 February increases to €4,450.  In the past year the Club Lotto has paid out almost €34,000 in prizes. Tickets can be bought online (see link below) or in the Club Bar and there is a special offer of 3 lines for €5.00. Please continue to support this very important fundraiser for the Club while having a chance to win the Jackpot or one of 3 prizes of €50 each Sunday night. For those members who play the National Lottery please note that your chances of winning on the Club Lotto are so much better than those on the National Lottery. For example, the chances of winning the €4,450 Jackpot on the Club Lotto are much better than your chances of winning just €150 on the National Lottery!

Traditional Music Session – Every Monday Night in the Club Bar! – Very entertaining traditional music sessions with a little bit of folk music are held in the Club Bar every Monday night from 9:30 pm. The sessions are open to all musicians and everyone (members and non-members) is welcome to attend what are very entertaining sessions by very talented musicians.
