Club Notes

August 31, 2015

Well done to our senior hurlers who have reached the Intermediate championship final after a hard earned victory over Raheny. This was an excellent team performance and the victory was well deserved. This win also ensures that we return to the  Senior B championship  next year. After a great run, our junior hurlers lost out in the semi final to an exceptionally strong Skerries side. Despite this loss, the juniors have a lot to play for and are currently top of the league with 4 games remaining. The hurlers have put in a great effort this year and credit is due to the management teams of David, Cliodhna, Mattie and Tiernan who guide our seniors and Tony, Jack and Aidan who are at the helm with the juniors.

We had a number of our under age players representing Dublin during the last week. U16 footballers Dara O’Boyle, Sean Hawkshaw and Karl Bissett were on the Dublin team that beat Meath in the Leinster Academy final. Gavin Nangle is also in this squad but was on holidays. U16 camogie player  Aoibhe Dillon represented Dublin in the All Ireland final. U16 hurlers Shane Kavanagh and Dara O’Boyle were also on inter county duty. U14 hurlers Jack Keogh and Tommy Cosgrove played in the prestigious Tony Forristal tournament. Well done to all of them. We are very fortunate to talented players in all codes.

Please note that on the 26th of September, we are hosting the All Ireland ladies 7s and on the 16th of October, we host the Gaelic 4 Mothers tournament. All pitches at the clubhouse will be in use between 8am and 5.30. Teams with away games, please meet in Carrickhill. The usual helpers will be required on the day. Please contact Frank Lynch

Good luck to the “Jackies” on Saturday who play Armagh in the All Ireland semi final and also to the “Dubs” in their replay against Mayo.

Please be aware that we are hosting the start of the Community Road Race on Thursday evening. So, parking spaces will be in big demand at the club. Please be careful

Our BBQ and Barn Dance takes place on Friday night. Tickets are available from Eamonn at the Bar. On Saturday, we have our Family Day. Please come along and join us in the clubhouse afterwards to watch the Dublin Mayo replay.
