Club Notes

August 24, 2015

Over the weekend, we said a sad farewell to our young colleague, player and friend Govan Jolliffe-Byrne. Govan was a “one off” and will be sadly missed. We extend our sympathy to his parents Bob and Elaine and to his brothers Peadar, Finn and Aidan. May Govan’s Soul Rest in Peace.

This is a big week for our hurlers with both teams in championship semi final action. On Saturday evening, our seniors play Raheny in St. Annes at 6pm and on Sunday morning, our juniors travel to Skerries at 10.15am to play the home team. Please support the lads.

Our under 16 footballers had a good win over Ballymun and remain in contention for a league play off position. Well done to our Under 12 hurlers who reached the semi final of the Fingallians tournament and to our Under 15 Ladies football team who reached the latter stages of the St. Maurs tournament. Thanks to both clubs for hosting the events.

Tickets ordered for the Dublin Mayo game can be collected on Thursday night. If you are not going to the game, why not come along and watch it on our big screens.

Our BBQ and Barn Dance takes place on the 4th of September. Tickets are selling fast and can be got from Eamonn in the bar or from Andrew and Siobhan Crean-Lynch.

On Saturday the 26th September, the club is hosting the annual All Ireland Ladies football 7 a side tournament. All club pitches will be in use all day. Teams with away fixtures are asked to meet in Carrickhill.

Well done to kathleen Colreavy and the Dublin ladies who have reached the semi final where they will face Armagh.
