Club Notes

April 10, 2018

Recent Games - Despite the bad weather both adult hurling teams were in championship action at home over the weekend. On Saturday evening our AHL3 team had an impressive win over Commercials in the junior A championship. This team remains unbeaten so far this year. On Sunday afternoon our AHL7 team got the better of Parnells in the junior D championship in a tight encounter. Well done to all concerned.

Upcoming Games  - Our senior camogie girls play Erin’s Isle in the league tomorrow evening (Tuesday) and our junior footballers are in championship action at home next Sunday morning. On Saturday, we are hosting the Ladies Football Féile and we wish our own team the very best of luck.

Club Development – Plans are in place for conversion of the Club’s Number 1 pitch to a sand-based pitch for which the Club has been awarded a Sports Capital Grant of just over €135,000. We hope to begin this work in the very near future and assuming good grass growth during the summer it is hoped that the new sand-based pitch will be playable by the autumn. In the meantime remedial work is being carried out on our two new pitches that are located below the Mound Field and Pitch 6 and these pitches should be playable at some stage during the summer.

Golf Society - Our Club Golf Society had their first outing of the year in the Portmarnock Links last Friday and despite the weather, a great day was had by all. Membership of the Golf Society is open to all including non-members.

2018 Membership – Thank you to all of our members who have paid their 2018 membership. If you have not already paid your membership please do so as soon as possible. Active Irish Learning in the Club this Summer - Keep an eye out for “Bua” an exciting new approach to learning Irish for young and old. ‘Bua will be running an activity course for teenagers entering 2nd and 3rd year this June in Naomh Mearnóg. Further courses for children in 5th and 6th class and a Leaving Certificate Revision Course will be run in Sutton in July. For further information visitwww.buabeo.ieor talk to Gar O’Driscoll.
