The Paddy McConnell Memorial Cup is returning this Saturday, 1st July 2017. This year we will be celebrating the fantastic achievement of the 1997 Naomh Mearnog Minor team, which Paddy was apart of. Under the guidance of Mick Colreavy, Declan McConnell and Noel McKenna, the team went on to win the Dublin Minor Division 1 League and the Dublin Minor County Championship.
The teams involved for the Paddy Mc Connell Cup will be the; Paddy McConnell Select vs The Naomh Mearnog 1997 Minor Team (6pm). This match will be preceded by a Ladies Football Challenge Match featuring players from the Naomh Mearnog Mothers & Others Team & the 2006 Naomh Mearnog/St Sylvesters Senior Team (5pm).
Building on the success of the last two years we are hoping to see another highly skillful and competitive footballing exhibition in both the Ladies and the Mens matches. We also hope to run another successful charity fundraising campaign for a very worthy charity
This year the charity football match is in aid of the Portmarnock Lions Club who do some fantastic charity work in the local area. There will be a collection bucket for the charity pitch-side on the day and any contributions would be greatly appreciated or if you wish you can make an online donation via www.ifundraise.ie/PortmarnockLions.
The game is on Saturday, 1st July, throw-in at 6pm. Prior to the match, there will be kids face painting and the Naomh Mearnog Bar & Club facilities will be open to all from 5:15pm onward.
After the match, there will be a BBQ, raffle and music open to all players and spectators with all proceeds going to the charity. The winning team will also be presented with the memorial cup in the clubhouse bar later on that evening.
We would love to see as many people as possible on the day and if you are interested in participating in any way, or require any further information please contact the email@example.com.
