Patsy, a native from Derrygonnelly, Co Fermanagh was brought up in the GAA tradition that he took with him to London from Fermanagh, and then back to Portmarnock in 1970. It was at this time that Patsy and a number of locals from Portmarnock set about establishing a GAA club in the local area. Patsy was the first registrar of the club where he served as a Naomh Mearnóg delegate for 25 years at the Dublin County Board.  Patsy also set up and managed the 1st Naomh Mearnóg Senior GAA football team and set about winning many local trophies at that time.

Patsy was also nominated by the club some years back to stand for Lord Mayor of Portmarnock. He was duly elected and carried out his duties as Lord Mayor for a year with fun and vigour. Patsy holds four senior championship football medals. Since he retired he spends a lot of his time at college matches in Croke Park.

In the photo’s Patsy is pictured with Michael and Brendan, Patsy’s son’s as well as club chairman, Michael Hannon. Also in view are Patsy’s long standing friends who were also key stakeholders in the establishment of the club and previous players, Danny Donoghue & Noel Mc Kenna.

We wish Patsy hearty congratulations and best wishes in his well deserved role as Club President of Naomh Mearnóg.
