The club hosted the annual Paul Beecher inter county juvenile camogie blitz on Saturday last. This tournament is arguably the most prestigious juvenile camogie tournament in the country. The club have been proud to host this blitz for the last number of years. And, indeed, the pride is well placed, offering us the opportunity to showcase our club to the parents, mentors and supporters of the 900 girls who took part last Saturday. Walk anywhere around the club on Saturday last, and you’ll have overheard nuggets of conversations, praising the club facilities, the condition of the pitches, and the warm and friendly welcome for all of the participants. To those who set up the pitches, to our Groundforce crew who manned the car parks, to the Crew who wo-manned the shop, and to everyone else who helped in any way: take a bow!
The standard of play in the competition was simply stunning. 15 counties were represented by the cream of u14 and u15 players. Dublin had entered teams from their u13, u14 and u15 development squads. Naomh Mearnóg was represented by Clare McGowan at u15 level, and by Sophie Brennan, Leah Forde, Gráinne Skelton, and Aoibheannn Crean-Lynch from the u13 County development squad.
Our thanks also to Sylvesters and to the Community school for making their facilities available.
