Sunday Sunshine Sparklers!

Sunday Sunshine Sparklers!

Posted March 23, 2015

Juvenile Camogie Round up.

Our u13s and u12s were in action this weekend.

U13s: Our girls had a powerful win against Castleknock in Páirc Mearnóg. Relishing the Sunday morning sunshine, the girls took a promising lead of two goals in to the half time break. Castleknock clawed back the lead in the second half, and our girls had to defend stoutly to see out the win. While it never felt quite like the Alamo, we were pinned back in the second half, and pure determination kept out a strong and late foray from the Castleknock ladies. We held out to win by 5 points. What a display by our u12 guest stars!  Carla, Rebecca, Sophie G and Ruth all shone in a tremendous all around team display. Final score: Naomh Mearnóg 3-2, Castleknock 2-1.

U12s:  On Saturday our U12 camogie girls fielded two teams against Naomh Jude in Páirc Mearnóg. This was always going to be a big challenge with a couple of the girls injured and facing Judes who are a top 3 club at this age group. Both Mearnóg  teams battled hard throughout and were unlucky not to get scores at crucial times throughout the games. On the day Judes were the better team and deserved the win. It’s not often the U12 girls are beaten so we were understandably disappointed but we will learn a lot from this defeat and bounce back with all guns blazing for our next league outing against Kilmacud on the 11th April. It was great to see so much many parents supporting the team and we were delighted to welcome Mr Ahern and Ms Doherty from St Marnock’s who manage the school camogie team.

U16 Dub stars: Well done to  Lauren Delaney, Emma Forde, Ciara Holland, Aoibhe Dillon, and Sarah Brennan, all of whom lined out again foir the u16 Dubs at the weekend.

Focal scoir: A great night was had by all at the camogie table quiz last Friday night. Lots of people quoting Larry Gogan (“the questions didn’t suit me!…”), and great banter and fun! Thanks to all who supported.
