Dub Stars and more!
Pride of place this week goes to out u16 camogie Dubs, Ciara Holland and Aoibhe Dillon who shone for the Dubs last weekend, scoring 1-3 and 2-4 respectively.
Well done also to one of our senior Dubs (and juvenile coach for our club u10s!) Caitriona Power who starred for the senior Dubs who recorded their second win on the trot against Clare in the National League last Sunday.
Our u13s and u15s were in action on Sunday morning last.
Our u13s registered a narrow loss against Cuala in Páirc Mearnóg on Sunday, going down after a very spirited display.
Our u15s (pictured above) played Skerries on Sunday afternoon. Match report below!
Final score: Skerries 7-2 Naomh Mearnog 2-9
The U15 team travelled to Skerries on Sunday morning for their second outing in the league. Due to injuries and other reasons, the team travelled without a number of the squad but were confident of getting their first win of 2015. The Mearnog girls played the first half against a strong breeze and quickly found themselves two goals down. Despite dominating possession at centrefield, our girls could not find a way past the excellent Skerries ‘keeper. However, the team picked off some impressive points to leave us trailing by 8 points at halftime.
The second half went much like the first. Time and again, Claire McGowan and Megan O’Connor, who were both in superb form, rained shots down on the Skerries goal but were repelled each time. The team did not lose patience though and kept picking off scores from distance. Their persistence was rewarded with two late goals but unfortunately, Skerries were able to grab some crucial goals of their own and ran out winners by 8 points in the end
