Our under 15 girls hosted St Laurence’s, Manchester on Friday 20 February for a very enjoyable challenge match.
The Manchester girls are here for the weekend and they will also visit Croke Park where they will take the Sky Walk tour. They will also visit Ballyboden St Endas over the weekend. We hope they enjoy their visit and according to their manager they are really looking forward to a visit to Supermac’s. The match between the two teams was a great fun occasion and the photo of the teams epitomises the spirit in which the game was played.
The St Laurence girls are all second generation Irish and their commitment is unreal, each time they play a game it cost around £400 as they have to travel to Birmingham and hire a bus to go there where they will a number of games. They do not have a game on a consistent week in week out basis so what they are doing is so commendable. A number of the girls are also members of Comhaltas in Manchester and they travelled complete with dancing shoes and musical instruments and following dinner in the club they provided us with an impromptu seisiun. Their pride in their Irish heritage is something to be admired.
St Laurence’s have very kindly issued an invitation to our girls to Manchester and we hope to undertake this trip before the year end.
A special thank you to both sets of players.
