A great morning was had by all on Saturday, December 6th, in Páirc Mhearnóg. The U8 boys football team was pitched against their parents, in what turned out to be a well contested, hard fought great bit of fun for all.
At one point we had 15 parents on the pitch who all seemed to be having the time of their lives (or at least the time of their morning), as their sons rang rings around them demonstrating their superior skill, agility and fitness.
Performances of note were Tony Lyons who took up the position of Goal Keeper (and refused to change as he didn’t fancy his chances of catching his son, Liam, who scored quite a few against him), Derek McKeever who might have gotten a selection box after the game if it wasn’t for all his messing on the field, and last but not least to Noel Cosgrove for having, as he put it himself, “Great legs”.
Saturday was a fun way for us to end what was a very enjoyable year with the U8 football and Hurling teams. We cannot overstate the importance of parent participation and we were delighted so many of you turned up to play and support us on the last day of our season as the mighty U8s. Come on next years mighty U9s. Thank you again for all your support through 2014 and we look forward to seeing you in 2015. Happy Christmas and a happy and peaceful new year.
The 2014 U8 management team.
