Under 11’s hurling challenge match v Under 12’s : 6th Dec 2014
The Under 11’s continued their season wind down today, with a challenge match against their under 12 counterparts at the Carrik Hill pitches. After a very successful season, there was keen interest from to see what they could expect next year and the Tony Phillips run squad were only too happy to oblige.
Having enjoyed a strong panel all year, we were not to be disappointed with the turnout and the faces on the squad made it clear that they were there to show their older brothers (literally in some instances) what they were made of.
Kick off was prompt at midday and the early encounters illustrated a steely determination from both sides. To be fair to the Under 12’s the extra year allowed them control possession and take their scores, however the Under 11 mentors were delighted with our ability to take on and win many of the physical encounters. Something we believe bodes well for next year.
Given the time of year, the arrival of Santa in a fire engine proved to be little distraction and the good-natured game proved a very worthwhile exercise in preparation for next year’s season.
