Brennan’s Manna from Heaven! Action packed weekend for camogie girls!
U13s: this experiment goes from strength to strength. In the second of two challenge matches for our newly formed u13 team (a combination of this year’s u12s and a sprinkling of stardust from the younger girls from this years u14 panel) we took on a crack Raheny squad on Sunday afternoon. The Raheny girls bombed in to an early lead, but our girls stuck with it, and clawed back some precious scores in the second half. We saw a powerful display from Maria Kelly. Alexandra Kenny displayed lovely skills and dogged determination. Roisin Hughes battled away in the backs to great effect. And how about the second half display from Ella Griffin, when she came out the field and made several great bursts for goal. A display full of promise for the year ahead. And what about this? Managed by the Brennans, refereed by Sarah Brennan, and lead from full back by young Sophie Brennan. Give us this day our daily (Brennan’s) bread!
U8s: Our u8s rounded off their debut season in style. Maurs visited on Saturday morning, and the girls ploughed through the mucky conditions (ah, Willie Fallon, don’t worry, we’re exaggerating here, for effect!) and rattled off displays full of their usual vim and vigour.
U9s: Our u9s had Raheny as their guests on Sunday morning. The Raheny girls are always up for good fun and great sport. We fielded three teams who each played 3 games. On a morning blessed with beautiful conditions, we forgot all about the winter for one morning. The sliothar fizzed over the all weather. Goals for our girls were like toys in Lapland, plentiful and free! All of this in the presence of our club president, Gerry Harrington, and dozens of very proud parents! Well done again girls!
