NAOMH Mearnóg’s hurlers went the distance to raise money for their club when cycling 2,976km in a 24-hour cyclethon.
The entire senior hurling squad was involved in what was a real team effort, and between them they cycled non-stop from 9pm on a Friday night until the same time the following evening. There were bikes located at the club, Dunnes Stores and JW Smyths butchers on the Saturday so we had plenty of vocal support to keep the lads going! The event finished in the club bar on the Sat night so made for a great night in the club!
Chief organisers were Aidan Kenny and team captain John Owens, and there was generous support also from event sponsors JW Smyths Butchers, The Bike Hub, Dunnes Stores, B&G Construction and RF Property Management and many individual sponsors.
We would like to thank the local community for their generosity in supporting this fundraiser.
